Welcome to Taituarā
Taituarā — Local Government Professionals Aotearoa is the national membership organisation for local government professionals.
Our focus is on providing professional leadership, promoting innovation and excellence in management practice and developing local government capability to enhance service delivery to our local communities, throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Working Group on Representation, Governance and Accountability of new Water Services Entities reported back to the Minister for Local Government Nanaia Mahuta yesterday with 47 recommendations. Taituarā welcomes the Report and would like to offer some commentary on its contents.
We’ve now completed our first series of online engagement focused on reimagining the future of local governance. Thanks so much to all who have participated. We would like to share the Roadshow’s introductory video ‘Ki te kāhore he whakakitenga ka ngaro te iwi’ (without foresight or vision the people will be lost), a brief initial summary of what we heard from participants, and some key files that were shared prior to the sessions.
The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #BreakTheBias. To celebrate we would like to introduce three fantastic new members of the Taituarā team. Going clockwise from the top we have Jen Coatham, Annie Bond and Wendy Moore. We feel so lucky to have you all on board!
Registrations are open for our 2020 Annual Summit (sponsored by Simpson Grierson)
This is the first Community Plan Forum following the 2021-31 Long-term Plan. This will be a great opportunity to reflect on the experiences of this year’s work – what worked, what didn’t, and how Taituarā might support you with your council’s future Long-term Plans.
There are Taituarā members working in councils all over Aotearoa New Zealand. Whether it’s in democratic services, civil defence, planning, community engagement, environmental engineering, building services or another of a enormous range of fields, our members are making huge contributions to their communities. Each fortnight we feature a different member.
