Diversity & inclusion
Taituarā has partnered with Capability Group to bring Leap – an evidence-based and innovative diversity and inclusion learning solution targeting all employees in the local government sector.
Leap has been designed to change mindsets and behaviours, create connection and belonging, open the door to increased levels of creativity, and transform team and organisational performance.
Leap does this by:
- challenging assumptions
- sharing stories and experiences
- creating new conversations
- reinforcing new knowledge and behaviours
- removing barriers to participation
- connecting and building a sense of belonging.
The Leap modules
There are five modules covering different aspects of diversity & inclusion.
Leap is the first blended learning solution that is based on:
- extensive primary research and neuroscience
- storytelling
- expertly facilitated workshops
- 2D and 3D animation
- microlearning and reinforcement
- a toolkit for leaders to support them to drive change with their teams.
The Leap modules
Growing diversity & inclusion
This module investigates the difference between diversity and inclusion and why are they important? You will explore the benefits and challenges of a diverse workforce and how inclusive practices can optimise the benefits of different world views, experiences and ways of thinking.
Recognising unconscious bias
This module investigates the science of unconscious bias and how it shows up in our everyday life. We will also explore strategies to manage your unconscious bias and how you can hold each other accountable within your teams.
Building cultural intelligence
Cultural intelligence is the ability to work effectively and relate well with people from different cultures in different cultural situations. This module allows you to explore your own cultural identity and those of others and the things that people who relate well to people from different cultures do.
Becoming an inclusive leader
To get the best out of your people as a leader, you need to build an inclusive culture across your team and remove barriers to participation. This module allows you to build an awareness of your own assumptions, biases and preferences and to recognise how your own behaviours impact your team members’ behaviours. You also identify strategies and tactics that you can then put into action with your team.
Giving difficult feedback
When managing a diverse team, often with diverse and competing perspectives, it is sometimes necessary to give tough feedback. This module will provide you with the skills to effectively give difficult feedback where behaviour must change immediately, and when acute problems need to be resolved quickly.
