Committees and Reference Groups
The Taituarā Committees and Reference Groups are formed from appointed experts to influence and support sector activities of national importance, and to contribute to our key work programmes.
By participating in our Committees and Reference Groups Taituarā members are able to gain a wealth of knowledge and insight in respect to issues that are critical to local government professionals while also enhancing their leadership skills and career opportunities.
Business Performance Reference Group
The Business Performance Reference Group promotes high standards of financial management, performance measurement and management, asset management, and the use of these disciplines as drivers of business transformation.
Democracy and Participation Reference Group
The Democracy and Participation Reference Group (DPRG) assists the local government sector to achieve high standards in the conduct of democracy services and governance support activity.
The Workforce Reference Group
The Workforce Reference Group identifies present and future workforce needs in the local government sector, and develops guidance and/or solutions so chief executives can meet these needs cost-effectively.
Planning and Accountability Reference Group
The Planning and Accountability Reference Group promotes high standards of integrated planning and policy development, and the associated accountability and reporting arrangements.
Regulations and Bylaws Reference Group
The Regulations and Bylaws Reference Group (RBRG) promotes high standards of regulatory management.
Elections Reference Group
The Elections Reference Group (ERG) provides advice on local body electoral matters to councils and electoral officers.
Resource Management Reform Reference Group
The Resource Management Reform Reference Group (RMRG) has been set up to help identify and advise on issues related to the package of Resource Management Act reform proposals. These proposals have potential to significantly impact on local authorities.
Community Wellbeing Committee
The purpose of the Community Wellbeing Committee is to support the local government sector to achieve intergenerational community wellbeing.
